New York, NY - This one is for the birds... sort of. This September, New York musical theater lovers (or avian lovers, as the case may be) will be the first to get a glimpse of the new musical “Pigeons: A Musical Fable of New York” at the Scene It, New York musical theater writing competition. According to the their website, the spirit of Scene It is to “foster the growth of new talent by providing an opportunity for industry insiders as well as the general public the chance to see and hear what the voices of tomorrow have to say.” As a finalist in the contest, a scene from PIGEONS, entitled “Central Park: Midnight,” with direction by Graham McCarty, music direction by Bridget Reddington, and featuring Tony Imgrund, Ashley King and Greg Portz, will be presented alongside eight other scenes from emerging musical theater artists at the Jerry Orbach Theatre on September 23, 2010. Cheryl Brea King and Allyson Elizabeth King will also join the Pigeon team as accompianist and stage manager. The show begins at 7:30pm.
